Religious Education

Religious Education is commonly known as CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine).  Our goal here at St. Mary’s is to enrich and supplement parents and guardians as the primary educators of the Catholic faith to their children.

We offer instruction starting with pre-school through adults.  The programs are conducted with classes, service activities, liturgies, retreat experiences, Bible studies and more and are geared to the age and faith levels of our groups.

First Eucharist and First Reconciliation are usually celebrated in the second grade.  Confirmation is celebrated in the eleventh grade after continuous enrollment in the CCD program.

CCD classes begin the week of September 20th.  Registration for the CCD program is required.  Forms are located at the front door to the CCD office at 86 Mechanic St.  Please fill out and return as soon as possible.

Please join us at the 10:00 A.M. Mass on September 20th for Catechetical Sunday.  We join with all churches across the country in blessing and celebrating our teachers.  Coffee Hour will follow in the HS gym.

"Little Church" Sunday School will begin September 20th during the 10:00 A.M. Mass in the elementary school.  This program is for children aged 6 months through kindergarten.  It consists of stories, crafts and prayers for the older children and play time for the very young.  It enables the parents to attend Mass while their children are being cared for.

Teacher Training for all teachers will be Thursday, September 10th, 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. in the HS cafeteria.  We do need more teachers for our program, so please think about volunteering.

Our Parent/Confirmation candidate meeting for our 11th grade students will be held on Sunday October 4th, following a CCD mass beginning at 6:30 p.m.   At this time, Confirmation candidates will receive important information as they begin this very important year of Religious Education.
